Qantas

Don't like to mention specific companies, but have to mention this one... took a Qantas flight back from Melbourne to Sydney a couple of days ago and when it came to mealtime, a japanese couple and their young daughter were clearly having a problem with the mush that Qantas were trying to pass off as food in the economy cabin.

It turned out that their daughter had special dietary requirements and couldn't eat the standard meal that had been handed out. The hostie [I was going to say stewardess, but she didn't rate this level of dignity] was berating the husband and explaining in an extremely condescending fashion that you had to pre-order, if you had special dietary needs [eg vegetarian, gluten free or whatever].

He pulled a paper out of his travel documents which clearly showed that they had pre-requested a special meal. Not having the dignity to apologise, she turned on her heals and walked down the aisle, returning a couple of minutes later with... two packets of pretzels and a packet of raisins, and unceremoniously dumped them in the poor customer's lap!

Would like to say that this was probably just an isolated incident, but have seen this sort of thing happen [& have been on the receiving end] too often... appalling!

I'm coeliac, and a Qantas Club & Frequent Flyer member, and have my dietary requirements listed on my Qantas Club account, and it's on every booking and yet, they still manage to stuff it up nearly each and every flight, so this story really doesn't surprise me one bit.

There was one morning where it was a very early flight and I didn't manage to get to Qantas club to grab a feed, and hopped on to the flight, only to find once again, no suitable food. I requested even a piece of fruit, to which they didn't have any. I arked up, and the head host realised that I wasn't going to pipe down and some how found 6 plates of fresh fruit with who else, but the pilot. Let's just say that it made it even more satisfying to eat.

Cheers,

Greg

Hey Greg - that's pretty funny, but what an indictment on an airline with pathetic standards of customer service!
